Special Lecture: Working at the IMF and the World Bank
Speaker: Marie Kim (IMF)
Date: April 11th (Thursday), 10:45 - 12:00 pm
Venue: GL Room (GSIS, Bldg 140 국제대학원)

The lecture is to discuss how to get a job at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank. After explaining briefly about the history and the mandate of the IMF, Marie Kim will specifically look into job opportunities at the IMF and the World Bank, focusing on IMF Research Assistant and World Bank Consultant positions. The two institutions share many similarities, including being in the United Nations system, but their mandates are different. IMF focuses on macroeconomic and financial sector issues that bear on global stability while the World Bank concentrates on poverty reduction and economic development. During the lecture, Marie Kim will share her personal experience at the IMF and the World Bank and explain their different hiring processes. Based on her experience, she will also discuss what to study, how to apply, and how to prepare if you want to work at the IMF or the World Bank.
